WEBVTT

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:01.000

00:00:01.000 --> 00:00:07.000
GEORGE DILLER: This is Delta Launch Control, now one hour, 24 minutes into the mission of NOAA-N.

00:00:07.000 --> 00:00:14.000
Joining us here at the console at the Mission Director Center is NASA launch director Omar Baez.

00:00:14.000 --> 00:00:22.000
And, Omar, as far as the flight that we saw of the Delta, how did the Delta perform?

00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:30.000
MR. BAEZ: The Delta performed nominally. Just the perfect flight today and spacecraft's in the

00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:40.000
correct orbit within a tenth of a nautical mile of what was expected, both in apogee and perigee. And so we're right on

00:00:40.000 --> 00:00:45.000
MR. DILLER: How did the countdown go? MR. BAEZ: Countdown went pretty smoothly.

00:00:45.000 --> 00:00:57.000
We worked a couple issues before we even got on station here today, and that was good. It got the team thinking early on.

00:00:57.000 --> 00:01:04.000
We got on console and we barely worked any issues throughout the -- throughout the four hours.

00:01:04.000 --> 00:01:09.000
The only thing we were kind of worried about towards the end was some slight wind gusts

00:01:09.000 --> 00:01:13.000
that were playing havoc with our guidance system.

00:01:13.000 --> 00:01:23.000
But, luckily, the winds calmed down for us and we were able to get a shot off on the first second of the ten minute window.

00:01:23.000 --> 00:01:28.000
MR. DILLER: What's the next Delta II launch for NASA at this point?

00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:33.000
MR. BAEZ: The next Delta II launch for NASA will be the CALIPSO CloudSat Mission.

00:01:33.000 --> 00:01:42.000
We expect the CALIPSO spacecraft to arrive here at Vandenberg this afternoon, in fact. It's flying over from Europe as we speak.

00:01:42.000 --> 00:01:48.000
MR. DILLER: And CloudSat's already here and undergoing check out. MR. BAEZ: Yes.

00:01:48.000 --> 00:01:53.000
MR. DILLER: About when would the vehicle be able to start going up on stand.

00:01:53.000 --> 00:02:01.000
MR. BAEZ: It takes us about a week or two to do the pad turn around and get everything blasted off and repainted.

00:02:01.000 --> 00:02:07.000
And we'll be ready to put the vehicle up just as soon as that's completed.

00:02:07.000 --> 00:02:13.000
MR. DILLER: Thank you, Omar. Congratulations on a successful launch and another good countdown

00:02:13.000 --> 00:02:16.000
and we'll talk to you back at the Cape.

00:02:16.000 --> 00:02:18.000
MR. BAEZ: Thank you. MR. DILLER: Thanks very much. MR. BAEZ: Appreciate it.

00:02:18.000 --> 00:02:24.000
That will conclude our launch coverage of the NOAA-N launch aboard the Delta II

00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:33.000
at one hour, 26 minutes, 15 seconds into the mission. This is Delta Launch Control.

00:02:33.000 --> 00:02:45.000
