00:00:01.000 --> 00:00:09.000
You're watching NASA Direct.

00:00:09.000 --> 00:00:13.000
Next on the NASA Space Shuttle Status Report:

00:00:13.000 --> 00:00:17.000
With the launch of Discovery less than one month away, pad crews load the

00:00:17.000 --> 00:00:21.000
space shuttle with prelaunch fuels and prepare for astronaut arrival.

00:00:21.000 --> 00:00:25.000
Atlantis has new engines and a new window, and in the Vehicle Assembly Building,

00:00:25.000 --> 00:00:29.000
a new, stacked set of boosters is being made ready.

00:00:29.000 --> 00:00:35.000
And, Endeavour receives new hardware for its future flight to the International Space Station.

00:00:35.000 --> 00:00:38.000
The NASA Space Shuttle Status Report starts right now!

00:00:38.000 --> 00:00:50.000
Music.

00:00:50.000 --> 00:00:56.000
I'm Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, NASA test director, and this is the NASA Space Shuttle Status Report.

00:00:56.000 --> 00:01:07.000
At Launch Pad 39B, technicians are preparing Space Shuttle Discovery for this summer's launch to the International Space Station.

00:01:07.000 --> 00:01:13.000
The team has completed prelaunch loading of the orbiter's hypergolic propellant.

00:01:13.000 --> 00:01:20.000
Testing of the multi-purpose logistics module Leonardo has been conducted. Leonardo, one of Discovery's primary payloads,

00:01:20.000 --> 00:01:26.000
will carry equipment and supplies to the space station, and then be returned to Earth in Discovery's cargo bay.

00:01:26.000 --> 00:01:31.000
The seven-member astronaut crew is slated to participate in a countdown dress rehearsal,

00:01:31.000 --> 00:01:39.000
practicing pad egress and other procedures, prior to Discovery's liftoff.

00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:44.000
Space Shuttle Atlantis will be next to fly. In Orbiter Processing Facility bay 1,

00:01:44.000 --> 00:01:50.000
technicians installed main engine No.3 and replaced orbiter window No.2.

00:01:50.000 --> 00:02:01.000
Solid rocket booster stacking for STS-115, Atlantis' next flight, has begun, inside the Vehicle Assembly Building.

00:02:01.000 --> 00:02:06.000
Testing continues on Endeavour in Orbiter Processing Facility bay 2.

00:02:06.000 --> 00:02:11.000
Technicians are currently performing tests and checkouts of the pedestals that support the orbiter

00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:14.000
boom sensor system inside the payload bay.

00:02:14.000 --> 00:02:19.000
The system will be used to conduct in-flight inspections of the orbiter's exterior during its mission.

00:02:19.000 --> 00:02:23.000
That's all the time we have for this week's Space Shuttle Status Report,

00:02:23.000 --> 00:02:27.000
your inside look at NASA's three space shuttles as they prepare for flight!

00:02:27.000 --> 00:02:33.000
Until our next report, stay with NASA TV and nasa.gov for the latest in mission news.

00:02:33.000 --> 00:02:53.000
For the NASA Space Shuttle Status Report, I'm Charlie Blackwell-Thompson.

00:02:53.000 --> 00:02:58.000
