00:00:07.000 --> 00:00:15.000
GOES-N, NASA's next-generation weather satellite, has arrived at Kennedy Space Center in Florida for final launch preparations.

00:00:15.000 --> 00:00:22.000
The new type of weather satellite is designed for tasks such as monitoring severe storms and helping with maritime rescues.

00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:32.000
GOES-N was ferried to the Center aboard an enormous C17 cargo jet, which touched down on the Shuttle Landing Facility's 15,000 foot runway.

00:00:32.000 --> 00:00:39.000
Once safely on the ground, the container protecting the satellite was rolled off the cargo plane and lifted onto an awaiting flatbed trailer.

00:00:39.000 --> 00:00:47.000
During its trip to the Astrotech facility in nearby Titusville, GOES-N passed by NASA's iconic Vehicle Assembly Building.

00:00:47.000 --> 00:00:54.000
A short time later, the satellite and its caravan arrived at Astrotech for a two-month final checkout of its systems.

00:00:54.000 --> 00:01:02.000
Once testing is complete, the satellite will be delivered to its launch pad and flown into orbit above the Earth.

00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:07.000
