00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:01.000

00:00:01.000 --> 00:00:04.000
George Diller/SDO Launch Commentator: This is Atlas Launch Control, one hour, 55 minutes,

00:00:04.000 --> 00:00:09.000
28 seconds into the mission of the Solar Dynamics Observatory.

00:00:09.000 --> 00:00:16.000
And joining us here in the broadcast both in
the Atlas Spaceflight Operations Center is
Omar Baez.

00:00:16.000 --> 00:00:21.000
He was our
NASA launch director for today's liftoff.

00:00:21.000 --> 00:00:30.000
And Omar, first of all, I know you've gotten some spacecraft status on SDO. Can you tell us what they're reporting, how they look?

00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:37.000
Omar Baez/NASA Launch Director: Absolutely. Shortly after separation, they deployed their solar arrays.

00:00:37.000 --> 00:00:40.000
They acquired the sun, they are sun-pointing,

00:00:40.000 --> 00:00:48.000
they are power-positive. So all the right
things that they wanted to do in those crucial first few minutes,

00:00:48.000 --> 00:00:53.000
it's happened like clockwork. They have their command carrier up,

00:00:53.000 --> 00:00:59.000
they're communicating and watching it through Hawaii tracking station now. So, they're doing great.

00:00:59.000 --> 00:01:02.000
George Diller/SDO Launch Commentator: All right, that's good news.

00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:09.000
So, now looking back a little bit as far as the Atlas and Centaur, how did they perform during the flight?

00:01:09.000 --> 00:01:15.000
Omar Baez/NASA Launch Director: The Atlas and Centaur were flawless. They got us to where the satellite needed to go.

00:01:15.000 --> 00:01:21.000
We hit the window right at the beginning, right where we wanted to and weather held in there for us.

00:01:21.000 --> 00:01:25.000
And so everything appears nominal for the flight.

00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:29.000
George Diller/SDO Launch Commentator: Anything of interest during the countdown that occurred?

00:01:29.000 --> 00:01:34.000
Omar Baez/NASA Launch Director: Well, we stared at the wind rose for a long time today,

00:01:34.000 --> 00:01:38.000
after our experience yesterday. But nothing surprising.

00:01:38.000 --> 00:01:45.000
And you know, we expected a few clouds and the range had their aircraft interrogating clouds for us.

00:01:45.000 --> 00:01:51.000
We had some cells that were heading our way toward the end of the window,

00:01:51.000 --> 00:01:58.000
but luckily we went at the beginning and none of that affected us. So, it's good to get SDO off.

00:01:58.000 --> 00:02:01.000
George Diller/SDO Launch Commentator:
All right. Well, thank you, Omar.

00:02:01.000 --> 00:02:04.000
It's good to know we've had a good flight. SDO is just fine.

00:02:04.000 --> 00:02:11.000
And I guess at this point that means that we can bring to conclusion our coverage of the

00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:17.000
Atlas V launch countdown and launch today for the Solar Dynamics Observatory.

00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:24.000
At one hour, 57 minutes, 42 seconds into the SDO mission, this is Atlas Launch Control.

00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:25.000
