00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:03.000
Music.

00:00:03.000 --> 00:00:07.000
The STS-130 astronauts visited NASA's
Kennedy Space Center in

00:00:07.000 --> 00:00:11.000
Florida for a week of launch training for their upcoming mission.

00:00:11.000 --> 00:00:15.000
It's called the Terminal Countdown
Demonstration Test, or TCDT,

00:00:15.000 --> 00:00:19.000
and every space shuttle crew goes through it before liftoff.

00:00:19.000 --> 00:00:24.000
Led by Commander George Zamka, the six astronauts arrived in T-38 training aircraft,

00:00:24.000 --> 00:00:29.000
touching down at Kennedy's Shuttle Landing Facility on January 18.

00:00:29.000 --> 00:00:33.000
George D. Zamka /STS-130 Commander: It's a beautiful evening and this is a very special trip for us.

00:00:33.000 --> 00:00:42.000
It marks the transition for us from flight preparation and training to the operational stage of our flight.

00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:45.000
We're looking forward to flying this flight here in just a few weeks.

00:00:45.000 --> 00:00:50.000
All the crew members practiced driving the tank-like M113 armored personnel carrier.

00:00:50.000 --> 00:00:57.000
They also learned how to evacuate from the space shuttle, and ride to safety in suspended slidewire baskets.

00:00:57.000 --> 00:01:01.000
Zamka and Pilot Terry Virts spent time flying the Shuttle Training Aircraft,

00:01:01.000 --> 00:01:05.000
modified to mimic the handling qualities of a landing orbiter.

00:01:05.000 --> 00:01:08.000
And the astronauts were able to go into space shuttle Endeavour's payload bay,

00:01:08.000 --> 00:01:15.000
to see the Tranquility connecting node and the seven-windowed cupola ready to fly to the International Space Station.

00:01:15.000 --> 00:01:18.000
The week's activities wrapped up with a full countdown dress rehearsal.

00:01:18.000 --> 00:01:25.000
The astronauts suited up, rode out to the launch pad and strapped inside Endeavour -- just like they will on launch day.

00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:32.000
Terry W. Virts/STS-130 Pilot: This is a beautiful vehicle. We have a great view here. It's just amazing to see the space shuttle.

00:01:32.000 --> 00:01:39.000
I think what stands out to me is how big it is. When you walk up to it, it's just such a large vehicle that -- the external tank,

00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:47.000
the solid rocket boosters -- it's amazing to think of that vehicle weighing, you know, almost 4 million pounds. It's just impressive.

00:01:47.000 --> 00:01:53.000
With their practice countdown behind them, the crew returned to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.

00:01:53.000 --> 00:01:58.000
They'll fly back to Kennedy Space Center when liftoff is just a few days away.

00:01:58.000 --> 00:02:05.000
